Serious Games in Staff Development

Project Details

Serious games are used in a range of learning and teaching environments in Higher Education and elsewhere. As well as creating a context in a learning and teaching situation, Accreditation!, the game described here, provides unexpected connections between participants, allows all members of a group to have a voice and sparks up conversation and laughter about what can be difficult or sensitive topics (Hamshire & Forsyth, 2013:174).

Originating from a research project with JISC "Accreditation! is now used as a staff development tool and replaces what used to be a very boring lecture on accreditation.”(Ibid)
