Project Details

Often engagement with summative feedback varies wildly between students. Some, might read or listen to it and take it on board. Others might simply look at their grade. Sara Ward discusses the approach developed in their team to target student engagement with feedback.

Rather than deliver feedback electronically, written feedback is handed back to students in a specifically designated seminar. Students view their own feedback as well as discuss with their peers. The tutors present the strengths and common mistakes that occurred across the cohort’s assignment. This process, as Sara explains, was designed to give students time to process their feedback, give an opportunity to ask questions straight away, and to highlight ways to improve in future assignments.
